As it turns out, I never got to live in a tree.  However, I am lucky enough to have enjoyed quite a few years of sobriety. I have a successful career as a business systems analyst in the IT department of a large bank. Writing is my side-gig, along with working with other alcoholics. This is what gives my life meaning.

Currently, I reside with one of my adult sons who faces the challenge of mental health issues.  I also provide emotional and other support to another adult son. Like me, he is bipolar and an alcoholic/addict, and is currently in treatment. This is always a very fluid situation so each day is a new journey. Today I am grateful that, for now at least, they are both safe and sane, albeit with a little help from their mom. 

 

Every author must have a purpose, whether it be to entertain, to inform, or to share experience.  My purpose here is to help others who have struggled with mental illness and addiction, or who may have family members struggling with mental illness or addiction, in hopes that I may be able to meet you on the other side.
